The Reckoning 2019 GenreBlast Review

Synopsis:

After the disappearance of her husband, a struggling farmer in an isolated Appalachian community fights to save her son when the cold-hearted matriarch of the oldest family on the mountain demands payment of a debt that could destroy a decade’s old truce.

Review:

The Reckoning is by far one of my favorite horror film from any festival I’ve covered this year and I’ve covered Fantasia! That should tell you something of how great this southern horror tale is beyond exquisite. The acting is so powerful it can bring you to tears which is so hard for a horror film to do but this is much more about your typical horror film. Danielle Deadwyler deserves a damn Oscar! There’s not enough you can say about her electrifying performance. The pacing of the film is excellent so fast paced and tight moving the story perfectly. There’s something to this small film that makes it feel like 90 minute long version of Midsommar it’s just that well made. This is one movie that will blow you away.

5/5
